At last...let boating season begin!

Nick and I are excited to be getting out on the water soon. It’s been an abysmal winter boating season for us – with awful weather and moving…oh, and Covid – we haven’t used Touch of Gray much. So, we’ve been cleaning and provisioning in preparation for a scheduled departure this Friday (4.29). We’ll visit a few of our favorite haunts (Blake, Poulsbo, Langley, La Conner) and then continue north.

This trip centers around an American Tug gathering at Telegraph Harbor (Thetis Island, Canadian waters) May 12-15. We are looking forward to the opportunity to finally meet more AT owners, and to visiting that area for the first time. We’ll meet up with the Salish Nomad crew (out of Anacortes) on May 4th then make our way into the Gulf Islands. No exact itinerary at this point but we’ll visit some San Juan Islands spots and go from there. ToG will make her way home in time for shrimping in our area on May 25.

While there have been some challenges this winter/early spring – illness, the stress of a relocation, and crappy weather, there have been plenty of highlights. We are thoroughly enjoying our new condo at Pt. Ruston. The view is lovely, the wildlife and people-watching are entertaining, the walking and sightseeing is phenomenal…it’s been a ton of fun. (I have a new obsession with marine traffic. Commencement Bay is a busy place!)

We had a great two weeks in Hawaii in early March with our Coorie Doon buddies Jeanie and Steve. We ate wonderful Hawaiian food all over the Big Island, travelled around to experience much of what the island has to offer (volcanoes, botanical gardens, beaches, jungles, lava beds, etc.), grilled fresh fish, drank, snorkeled, swam, walked, and generally had a great time!

We watched our two little grandsons while their parents had a weekend getaway in Seattle. So much fun!

We will continue as part of the Waggoner Cruising Guide Field Correspondent team. They are sorely in need of updates from B.C. and we’ll do our best to help everyone catch up on what may be new or different.

As the blogging platform I use no longer allows people to sign up to receive new posting notifications, I am going to try to forward the blog link to an email list. (I believe those who signed up early on still receive notifications – if this is not the case, please let me know.) So, if you want to be on the list, make sure you send me your email address. (jmcmott@gmail.com)

I’ll begin posting regularly again in a few days – remember, blog comments are encouraged and much appreciated! Sometimes it really helps me stay connected to the real world. πŸ˜Š
