Outboard Update & Eagle Harbor

We dropped the dinghy in Gig Harbor on Thursday. Steve told us it would be a few days if he was going to get a new outboard instead of fixing this one, so instead of sticking around we headed back to our home berth to pick up our kayaks and spend the night. Then we went north to Bainbridge Island.

Steve texted this picture of the outboard’s oil filter – you can see where the gasket is crimped. So yes, he switched out the outboard for another brand new one. We’ll get the dinghy back on Monday – Steve will deliver it to the Pt. Defiance ramp.

Eagle Harbor is a little crowded but we found a space to anchor. One of the clearest views of Seattle that we’ve had from this vantage point. Some very interesting sights. Good kayaking.

Beautiful old Monk (noisy!)

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a seal sleeping but that’s exactly what this guy was doing. He bobbed right past us as we enjoyed some red wine before grilling steak for dinner. He was like that for a good half our or so, waking up once when a boat went by, and then going right back to sleep. What I didn’t get a picture of was the goose swimming by with its neck and head outstretched along the water. Goofy!

Hope to take a long walk today, kayak some more, and head home tomorrow, Sunday.
