Let Crabbing Commence!

We enjoy Deer Harbor more and more each time we visit. The anchorage is exceptional, protected and scenic, and there are a couple of nice walks. ToG anchored there Monday and Tuesday nights.

We took the bikes to shore and rode the 20+ miles to Eastsound and back. (Batteries held out just fine.) Very picturesque.

We stopped at the West Sound Marina to buy a part for the davit...the piece that came loose and went in the drink.

Our favorite restaurant (The Madrona Bar and Grill) was unexpectedly closed so we chose the White Horse Pub. Nick liked his fish and chips, and I my steamed clams.

Yesterday we made our way to Roche, with the intention of anchoring. At some point I suggested we find a place at the dock for one night in order to do some cleaning, recharge everything, and pick up a few groceries. Oh...and stay ahead of laundry. They got us in without any trouble but the place is hopping with the nice weather and opening of crabbing season.
On the way, the current pushed us through Speiden Channel - best fuel economy ever!
We got all those things accomplished and Nick dropped a crab pot off Henry Island this morning. We picked up that pot - a few crabs but only two keepers (perfect for dinner!) - at about 11:30am and then made our way to anchor in Garrison Bay. There are quite a few boats here but we've seen it more crowded. We dropped the anchor and Nick dropped the pot again out in the channel...with the fifty-nine million other pots.

Forgot to include this photo the other day from our paddle in Fisherman Bay:
