Another "Houseboat"

"Now, that's what I call hauling!" Those were the words of one of many onlookers at Friday Harbor, as we all gawked at another barge hauling homes. Three homes...and a semi truck.

After clearing customs, this outfit is headed to the other side of the island, where they will pull up to a beach and offload using the semi and that super long ramp that's sticking up at the front of the barge.

Not sure how that one small tug handles that load...would have been fun to watch maneuvers but we skedaddled to beat the (extremely) low tides through the Swinomish.

Tuesday afternoon we rode our bikes to Pelindaba Lavendar Farm on San Juan Island. We packed a picnic lunch and enjoyed a bit of sunshine. It was a windy ride, however, and the lavender isn't blooming yet.

A note about our new bikes: these are Jupiter Bikes, purchased online from Costco. These electric folding bikes are half the weight of our previous "boat bikes" and drop neatly into our tank room storage area.

They are very comfortable and offer a pretty smooth ride. I am able to handle them fairly easily, unlike our heavy Greenbikes. (Those will stay unfolded in the bike room at our condo.) The batteries are smaller so we don't have quite the range as before so we'll plan shorter rides.

There is another extreme low tide today so ToG will depart the AT dock early this morning, aiming for Everett.
