On the boat...but not boating

Saturday, we moved temporarily aboard ToG while we pack and clean our townhouse in preparation for moving. Looks like this is finally going to happen on Feb. 11th. Without getting into any tedious detail, suffice it to say that the purchase of our new condo has been troublesome. Also known as a total pain in the arse and very stressful. Anyway, since we are downsizing (again) and starting over with furniture, it just became too bleak to stay in the townhouse any longer.

We were wowed by a lovely evening on our last night:

Weather and real estate activities kept us from our planned outing aboard ToG to meet Ramble On in Seattle over New Year’s Eve. We hope to catch up with them before they get their boat down the coast and on to the Columbia but it’s looking doubtful, as we are heading to Hawaii in early March…after getting moved and settled at the Rainier Condominiums. With all of our essentials on board now though, we are ready to head out at a moment’s notice – should we get any weather windows…and we’re not needed by our bank for some last-minute paperwork!

We were able to get away from all of the hassle and packing last week, just for a few days. The Ramble On crew treated us to a lovely lunch at the Portland Yacht Club, and gave us a tour of their most awesome boat house!

It was nice to finally catch up with them, even if we weren’t aboard our American Tugs. Since we are considering yacht club membership…and a boathouse…it was a good to check it all out. We got to spend some time with our daughter and spouse, and then headed to McMenamins Edgefield for a couple of days. The saltwater soaking pool never felt sooooo good!

We’ve been taking a lot of walks on the Foss Waterway – it’s been windy but we’ve had a couple of really clear – and cold! – days.

We’ve also been watching the steady progress of Melanie’s Park – being built very near our slip. This will be a fantastic addition to the waterway!

Hopefully, our move will happen with few hitches and we’ll get out on the water soon!

  1. It was our treat to have you visit. Your photo sure made the boathouse look good! We're crossing our fingers for your move to go smoothly... and, for the opportunity to get in at least a short cruise before we bring Ramble On home!
