Our Trip to B.C.

Why did we visit Vancouver B.C. yesterday by car? We went to look at a boat!!!

Yes, although we absolutely love Touch of Gray and would be happy to cruise her around the Salish Sea for years to come, we are considering living aboard full time. This is an enormous step and nothing is written in stone at this point. There are a lot of moving parts to this plan – finding a new boat, selling ToG, selling our Tacoma townhome, and divesting ourselves of much stuff. It will take some time to make it all work…if we decide for sure that this is what we want to do. Updates to come.

All went smoothly with our road trip. Jeff from AT picked us up in La Conner and the three of us drove north to Vancouver. There was one other car at the northbound Peace Arch border. We were asked to show our passports, vaccination records, and negative Covid test results. We were asked if we had used the ArriveCan app, but were not asked to show it. There were maybe half a dozen cars in line when we returned. Showed our passports and we were on our way.

Thanks to the AT team, we now have non-skid steps! They had seen my post to ATOG (AT owners’ forum) requesting ideas for solutions, and since we were here in La Conner, they took care of it. What we hadn’t realized was that the steps down to the berths already had the non-skid surface, it just wasn’t on the steps to the salon. Problem solved!

I’ve had fun working on a rug for our oddly shaped head floor. Unfinished but coming along nicely!

The wind kicked in again yesterday evening, and we woke this morning to pouring rain and hail. Hopefully some sun breaks today. Weather is supposed to change markedly tomorrow, so our plan is to head to Edmonds and then make our way home.
