More rain, more wind...

As I write this Friday morning, it is pouring rain at Cap Sante. We have had on and off rain and heavy winds. The sounds of wind ripping through this marina are almost deafening at times. Yesterday afternoon, there were waves and whitecaps inside the marina.

We did end up changing slips to avoid the commercial fishing boats. We’re on the F dock…with five other American Tugs.

Wednesday morning, we set off for the Tommy Thompson Trail, a flat one-way 3.3-mile paved path beginning at the marina and ending at March Point by the refineries (although friends tell us there are a couple of options to continue further). We didn’t make it all the way to the trestle. It was raining and we weren’t dressed for it, so we turned back at the RV park. Still a very good walk. We put in about nine miles that day with that walk plus around town.

Totem at the RV park:

Otter sculpture along the trail (although looks a little like a salamander):

Speaking of otters, there are quite a few messing around boats and docks here:

We discovered Sebo’s Hardware and purchased a small dehumidifier. It’s definitely collecting some water.

Yesterday we lunched with Salish Nomad friends at The Brown Lantern. They were kind enough to transport us to and from, as the wind was blowing us sideways.

This morning we are scheduled for Covid testing so we can visit Vancouver BC on Monday – more about all of that later. We have to walk through the drive-thru line at Walgreen’s…that should be interesting.

After that, we have a 3-hour or so window between heavy winds to make it from Cap Sante to the AT dock in La Conner. Here’s to smooth sailing!

An exquisite rainbow over Cap Sante yesterday evening:
