Cap Sante and Wild Weather

We are safely (well...more about that in a minute) tucked into a slip at Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes.

But first, the following photo shows a new trail being carved out at Roche Harbor Resort. The staffer we spoke to didn't have any information about it but we figure it is being built to reduce foot traffic on the narrow resort roads and to increase access to the trail system. We are always excited to see new paths that make walking safer in the places we visit.
I also snapped this shot of the ruin on the side of Afterglow Drive. Don't know what it was but it is very intriguing.

So...we left Roche and arrived at Rosario just before noon yesterday. A little rain, and pretty smooth water. (The wind was starting to pick up.) Nick paid for one overnight...and then decided to double check weather conditions. Based on his info we decided the weather window for uneventful crossing of Rosario Straight was, well, right then!

We untied and took off.

I read recently that the absolute worst thing you can have on your boat is a plan.

We arrived at Cap Sante, tied the boat up well, and had a breezy but not bad night.

Now, an explanation behind my opening comment.

We have been in this marina several times. It's large, and we've been on the guest docks two or three times. A little hard to get to, and quite a hike to shore and services. Last time we were here, they assigned us to C dock, which is nearer the marina opening and shore. We liked it and requested C dock again.

What we didn't remember, is that the dock next to us is filled with commercial fishing boats. They are in and out at all hours, in the dark, and no matter the weather and wind. Yesterday, one of them came in, hit the finger dock next to us, and then almost hit us. I'm sure he would have if Nick hadn't yelled.

If we don't move to the other side of C today (as we are here until Friday), we will request that side in the future.

Yesterday was very wet and we are hoping for a little drier day today so we can get in a good walk or two.
