Summer Cruise 2021 | The Zedekars+Gus Leg

Coorie Doon joined Touch of Gray in Garrison Bay on Monday. So nice to see Jeanie and Steve on their new boat!

CD’s tender outboard (brand new!) conked out almost immediately so Nick and Jeanie made the quick trip to Wescott Bay Shellfish for some fresh oysters. (We had been unable to buy them last week because of unsafe conditions.) Yum! Nick shamed Steve into eating one on the half shell and I thought for sure he was going to upchuck. 😊

Nick putting around Garrison in the dinghy:

On Wednesday we departed Garrison for Reid Harbor, Stuart Island, finding space at the dock for both boats. Had a nice hike to the Prevost village cutoff (remember to hike the ridge trail!)

View into Prevost:

Ranger Tugs friends spotted Jeanie and Steve from the ridge and came over to say high. Pam and Lars Kangas have a Ranger 29 called Alexandra. Pam is the one who told us to stay to the right on the ridge trail. They are expert shrimpers and gave us some tips.

This wonderful and quirky artwork adorns the Reid Harbor dock:

Wednesday morning, we headed for the north shore of Stuart to drop our shrimp pots. Not what you would call a haul but enough for a couple of meals! We got a total of 31 (4+27) and the Z’s got 80 (16+64). The Kangas’s have done well there in the past but they were a bit disappointed as well.

Teepees on Johns Island, near Stuart (Camp Nor’wester):

ToG and CD waiting for soaking shrimp traps (very near the Canadian border):

After shrimping, we made our way to Deer Harbor. We anchored while Coorie Doon snagged a spot at the dock. It was my turn to pose with the Sasquatch.

I had a Latte Chip cone at the Deer Harbor store. Tasty. And if I were ever to hold up a delivery truck…this would be it.

We made our way from Deer Harbor to Friday Harbor this morning, found spots at the dock, and lunched at the The Bait Shop. We’ve always wanted to try this place and Nick and Steve agreed the fish and chips were very good! (My fish tacos…not that good.) Jeanie enjoyed her shrimp wrap. (Jeanie and Nick agree the coleslaw is bland.)

We’ll head to Fisherman Bay tomorrow.
