Vaughn Bay Clams

Well...so much for staying cool. Monday in Jarrell Cove was toasty to say the least. Granted it was about 90 degrees. That location was one of the hottest in the Puget Sound area on that day, according to my weather guy...Nick.

Yesterday was much better. While Nick motored the dinghy across Case Inlet to Vaughn Bay (where the McQuarrie cabin is) to dig (the best ever) clams for dinner, I did some research for the Waggoner Cruising Guide...counted buoys and talked with the camp host. The park at Jarrell has a pilot program for registering for moorage by phone. A step in the right direction, for sure, but there is an additional $4.50 fee to do so.

Yum!

Unfortunately, the ride was quite choppy for Nick...and he caught a rock behind Stretch Island. (New outboard prop a must.)

New pay by phone mooring buoy sticker.
A note about this mooring ball. It's our first time at a buoy on ToG. We can still use the bow line to snag buoys from the cockpit, which is good. But for some reason our lines from the bow cleats to the buoy make so much noise! A weird vibrating sound occasionally as the boat shifts. Definitely do not remember this noise aboard Europa. We also think we hear more water lapping noise. All and all, a lot of noise in the v-berth at night.

We are now in Oro Bay...more about this later!
