Tiny Hidden Harbor, Port Ludlow

Fisherman Bay was not busy at all on the heels of the big weekend. We anchored ToG and headed to shore, stopping along the way to the village to marvel at this patch of vibrant poppies.

The village was quiet...and Bucky's is open!!! Lunch of champions.

Although the weather was very nice, Nick's research showed a small craft advisory in the straits for later Tuesday. We decided to leave very early to get south before any weather began developing.

A note about morning departures: As we debriefed about our cruising day yesterday, we realized that we really like morning cruising. We generally wake up around six...so why not power up and get going if the going is good? Afterall, it's not like driving a car...we can take turns getting hot beverages, making and eating breakfast, and showering. The water is usually calm, boat traffic is virtually nonexistent, and we get to enjoy more of the afternoon at our next destination.

We pulled into Port Ludlow prepared to anchor. We've been here once before, at the marina guest dock. The Waggoner Guide suggests two areas to anchor, in the main harbor, and around the corner, deeper into a small inner harbor. We ventured further in to check things out. I admit I was a bit nervous...it looked a bit tight. Nick was at the helm and keeping an eye on the depth as we navigated between two tiny islands.

Voila! You can just see ToG tucked in behind the two islands and into the back bay. It opens up enough to fit a few boats in around 15 feet of water. Beautiful!

We are the only boat here. The small bay is surrounded by lovely homes, wooded areas, the untouched little islands...and there are zero docks.

Next stop Eagle Harbor.
