Langley (Whale!) & La Conner

May the fourth be with you!

Weather has been consistently rainy.

We had an uneventful cruise from Poulsbo to Langley. We took a quick walk through town, then, while enjoying a glass of wine in the pilot house, we were lucky enough to watch a gray whale cruise by!

We were a bit surprised to see the old (and now privately owned) Evergreen State still parked next door. Word on the dock is that the owner is still negotiating permanent moorage somewhere in Everett. (While converting it to electric and turning it into some kind of event venue.)
We departed Langley early yesterday morning (6:30am) so that we entered the Swinomish Channel before low tide. Nice to be able to get up and go, drinking our coffee, showering, and breakfasting while underway.

The AT dock at Tomco Marine is so full!
I think there are 8 boats, the most we've ever seen. They are all sold and awaiting delivery. We were unable to get a spot and tied up on the G dock nearby at the marina.

We met briefly with Scott from Design Techniques NW, who took measurements for the canvas we want to add. More about this later.

Friends Shannon and Steve (Ramble On crew) came up from Vancouver to visit their boat and we were able to connect with them yesterday. Shannon invited us for happy hour and then we all had dinner at COA. (Thanks, and we'll have lime juice next time!)

While drinking our coffee this morning we were discussing salon configurations and it suddenly occurred to me to try our table in a different position:This provides much easier access for me (I sit on the side by the stairs, where it is difficult to get in and out) and really opens up the salon area. It only took us a year to figure this out!

We're headed to Friday Harbor now. A steady drizzle but no wind, so crossing should be smooth.

  1. Turns out I have a 1/2 gallon of Dr. Swami & Bone Daddy's FANCY margarita mix in the fridge in the pantry (at home!) LOL. I will be better prepared if we get a 'next time'.

  2. LOVE the way the table works! Looks great, as well as being comfy and functional.
